Getting involved

To get the most out of Flemington and make the most of Flemington, we encourage locals to get involved in our local community and support our local schools, traders, amenities and facilities, as well as supporting those in the community who might need a hand from time to time.

For more information on getting involved in any of these activities, contact us or come to one of our monthly meetings.

Newmarket Stationeers

In recognition of its 150th anniversary in 2010, a dedicated group of locals endeavoured to spruce up the surrounds of Newmarket Station.  The Stationeers meet on a regular basis to plant and otherwise maintain the embankment on Pin Oak Crescent, supported by grants from Victrack and donations from Moonee Valley City Council.  To find out more about the Stationeers, and to help out, call 9372 6931 or contact us.

Debney Meadows Reading Group

Debney Meadows Primary School seeks interested, suitable people who are available during the day to assist with their reading program.  Volunteers spend a morning each week listening to children read.  Reading aloud is an important part of development a child’s reading skills.  Children from homes where English is not the first language or where books are not readily available may miss out on vital reading practice.  Volunteers provide an opportunity for children to develop and show off their improving reading skills.  Our volunteers enjoy seeing the children’s skills and confidence develop over the school term and the children appreciate the attention and assistance provided by the volunteers.  For more information on getting involved
